National Solidarity Program (NSP):
National Solidarity Program (NSP) is an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) of Afghanistan. Started in 2003, NSP is a nationwide program aims to strengthen local governance through establishment of Community Development Councils (CDC).
SDO is one of the facilitating partners of NSP and is facilitating this program in Kabul province. During the first year of the program which ended November 2004 SDO was covering 3 districts; Paghman, Qarabagh and Shakardara. In December 2004 the program was expanded and four other districts, Mirbacha Koat, Deh Sabz, Chahar Asyab and Estalif were added to original three districts.
Human Rights Trainings to Community Development Councils:
SDO is one of the facilitating partners of National Solidarity Program (NSP) and is implementing NSP in 7 districts of Kabul. During year 2004 a total of 189 Community Development Councils (CDC) were established. In order to decrease human rights violations and promote human dignity and justice, SDO in 2004 undertook a civic education program called Human Rights Trainings for CDCs. Through this project a total of 144 male and female members of CDCs in three districts of Kabul (Paghman, Shakardara and Qarabagh) have received civic education on Islamic Perspective of Human Rights
